Among other things, I am the Ed Outreach coordinator for a small, university gallery. I prepare and deliver gallery tours, teach students to give gallery tours, and write K-12 cultural and arts curricula based on our gallery exhibitions. I teach the curriculum to our interns who in turn teach in the classrooms of our K-12 partners. Primarily we work with high schools in the Baltimore metro area.
Outside of work I am a neighborhood activist for the arts in Baltimore city. Public art projects and their interpretation interest me.
What information do you hope to gain from the Visual Teaching Network?
I hope to network with others who deal with visual literacy in the gallery and/or classroom environment. My greatest passion is making art--particularly contemporary art and culture--accessible to a broader public.
