Students might have already noticed, but everyone possesses a unique learning style. Neil Fleming, an experienced teacher has discovered three different learning styles and is generally known as the VAK model, an acronym for visual, auditory and kinesthetic. A lot of people have blended learning styles but visual is easily the most popular while kinesthetic is the rarest.

Close to 65% of the human population have dominantly visual learning styles. Somebody who is mostly a visual learner utilizes their eyes to receive and remember information. Visual learners best learn when they see visual images, videos, and other graphics that help explain and show the concept being learned. There are lots of things a visual learner is able to do to take charge of their learning style and begin learning and studying more effectively. Try shutting your eyes and visualizing whatever it is you are learning. Try avoiding visual disruptions while in class and instead of doodling try and illustrate the concepts you are learning. Visual learners usually use visual cues while studying something, this is often very useful when taking a test. As an example, experts agree it is found out that adult females compose a small minority of visual individuals. They care about auditory methods to peak their interest. If you said to a female that graduate scholarships for women had been attainable, it’d obviously peak her auditory curiosity.

Auditory learners make up about 30% of the population. They are better at picking up information while hearing or speaking. Somebody who is an auditory learner generally likes background music while studying to block out any other noises. Auditory learners will study better and be an even better student if they record class lectures and play them again, instead of taking notes. Asking questions and taking part in class discussions may help auditory learners to quickly retain the information they are learning.

The last form of learning is referred to as kinesthetic learning. Kinesthetic learning is much more physical, and just about 5% of all people are kinesthetic learners. These people are typically called doers since they prefer to interact with the information instead of sitting down and listening to a lecture. Kinesthetic learners usually get better grades in physical education, chemistry, art and acting. These kinds of learners have fantastic hand-eye coordination and are always needing to move around to be able to pay attention and learn effectively.

Everybody has a different combination of these three learning styles, which is what makes it essential for college students and teachers to understand this to make sure that each can prepare to instruct and learn the best way possible. Any student focused on grades should make time to learn their preferred learning style and the techniques linked to it.
