Five technology based skills that will make students future-ready

We live in times of change, new innovations, and constantly evolving technologies. Today, new-age tech such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), cloud computing, blockchain, and the Internet of Things (IoT) have become a part of our daily lexicon, with their applications defining our daily lives. The proliferation of these technologies has revolutionised almost every industry. To thrive in this rapidly evolving landscape, students need to equip themselves with several critical skills. By embracing a growth mindset and a willingness to learn, students can unleash their full potential and be more resilient in the face of change. Let us take a closer look at some of these skills and why they are essential for success in the 21st century. 

Critical thinking and problem-solving   
A study by the World Economic Forum found that critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving were among the top 10 skills that would be most in demand in the workforce by 2025, and their importance will continue to grow in the coming decades. The importance of cultivating critical thinking and problem-solving skills in school cannot be overstated, as they are highly valued in the job market and necessary for success in any field. By cultivating critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, students can become adaptable, resilient, and innovative thinkers, capable of tackling any problem that comes their way

Digital literacy  
With the ever-growing presence of technology in our daily lives, digital literacy is no longer just a nice-to-have, but a must-have. According to another WEF report titled 'The Future of Jobs', over 97 million new roles may emerge that are more adapted to the new division of labour between humans, machines, and algorithms. The report suggests that workers with strong digital skills will be in high demand in this rapidly changing job market. By developing digital literacy skills, students can better prepare themselves for the digital workplace, as well as become informed and engaged digital citizens. A key component of being future-ready, digital literacy empowers individuals to engage with and succeed in our increasingly digital world.  

Creativity and innovation   
By nurturing creativity and innovation in school, students can learn to think outside the box, develop new ideas, and approach challenges in exciting new ways. This skillset is particularly valuable in today's job market, where employers are increasingly seeking minds that can bring fresh perspectives and ideas to the table. Interactive and visual learning, as well as co-creation, can help develop creativity and innovation, enabling students to think creatively, express themselves, and generate innovative ideas that can help solve problems and create value.  
Communication skills
